Abstract
In the past decades we focused on preparation of new resin adsorbents with different nanoporous structures to control toxic compounds pollution in water systems. By using such self-made adsorbents we successfully developed many processes to treat kinds of fine chemical wastewater containing different high-strength toxic organic pollutants. Meanwhile, many useful compounds were recovered after desorption of the spent adsorbents and purification of the regenerants. Additionally, some resin adsorbents were employed as support materials for loading functional materials, such as hydrated Fe(III) oxide and zirconium phoshpate. The loaded adsorbents was found satisfactory for effective removal of toxic inorganic pollutants at trace level, such as arsenic and lead, from water body to meet the drinking water standard recommended by World Health Organization. The preparation and field application of resin adsorbents in polllution control will be summarized in the lecture.
