Abstract
Photocatalytic technology development and application, involving with nanostructured titania, has been quite active recently in Taiwan, because of its perceived advantage in environmental purification, infectious disease control, and building/construction self-cleaning. This presentation will describe the establishment of Taiwan Photocatalyst Industry Association (TPIA) and current efforts in photocatalytic standardization. Additionally, research efforts in environmental purification, road and field tests, photocatalytic material and system improvement, remediation of contaminated soil with total petroleum hydrocarbons or dioxin, and monitoring technique for nanoparticles released to the environment are also presented.
Experiences of commercial practice, potential and limitations will be discussed, while industrial promotion and cooperation activities will be reviewed. Future perspectives, including product upgrading for wide range of industrial application and international cooperation in system commercialization and product certification, will be introduced, too.
